Children's classes, ages 5 through 8, and 9 through 12 run about 3 to 3 1/2 hours and one parent per family is welcome to attend.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A REIKI CLASS:
A student receives the ability to work with Reiki through "attunements", a process by which certain chakras (energy centers) are opened within the body. It is through this process whereby the practitioner is able to channel Reiki for self-care and for others. This process is simple and safe and is discussed in detail for all Reiki students prior to the actual attunements. While we may do our best to understand Reiki, on some level, it is authentically mysterious and profound.Commonly, many students will feel some type of energy shift in the hands which grows and changes as Reiki is used in one's own life. This is true for all that receive a Reiki attunement, including Masters. So, while it is clear that you will leave a Reiki I class with the ability to do Reiki and a Reiki II class with the ability to incorporate the symbols in your life it is also true that "one day does not a healer make". The more that you practice Reiki, the more you will feel Reiki manifest energetically and otherwise in your life. This has been the powerful experience of many practitioners! Energy also adjusts differently in each person, especially for the first few days after a Reiki attunement. We will discuss this more in class.

WHAT IS REIKI?
Reiki is a gentle, hands-on healing technique. Hands are placed on the body in specific patterns, allowing "Universal Life-Force Energy" (translation of Reiki) to flow through. Reiki is non-invasive; there is no manipulation as in massage or chiropractic care. Simply, it is just a resting of the hands in a specific pattern over the clothed body. The roots of Reiki reach far back into the ancient origins of natural healing and was rediscovered in modern times by Dr. Mikao Usui. Legend has it he uncovered the key in 2,500 year old Sanskrit sutras at the end of the 19th century. Reiki is helpful in pain and stress relief and in boosting the immune system. It has also been known to cure the 'incurable'. Reiki is not limited to humans; plants and animals can benefit from the healing energy of Reiki.

MY STORY
I first became interested in learning more about Reiki when a friend gave me a treatment before surgery and again immediately after the procedure. I was skeptical and thought that the heat I was feeling from her hands was some kind of trick. The results, however, have since made me an avid believer in the powers of this healing energy. After the procedure, I felt great and had no need for pain medication. The healing was very quick and the scar is so small, it can barely be seen. The real surprise came when I no longer needed medication for my dysfunctional thyroid.
Since then, I've experienced so much healing on so many levels that it would take a book to cover all the details. That is how Reiki works. The energy goes where it is needed at the best possible time for you and clears the underlying cause in your subtle bodies (energy field) that is generating the dis-ease. The Practitioner does not need to know every symptom or ailment for Reiki to heal.
